So apparently, according to my friend's classmates that she's attending in college this semester, that we (as in Native Americans) are NOT people of color and beyond that are NOT even a race, but a subclass. A subclass?!

I don't even know how to respond to this garbage! Thoughts on this anyone?

X-posted like crazy....

-_-' Sub-class of whom? Those are some bold and assumptive statements to make. What kind of college do these people go to? Is this from profs or student-run organizations? Or just people talking in lecture classes?

I've seen some of the "check one of the boxes" that consider Middle Eastern people to be white. But I think that some of them and even many white people who would beg to differ...

And I know folks who consider Latinos to be Black.

And I think that people are still stuck on the "Causasoid, Mongloid, Negroid" classifications of all people in the world to categorize people. That could be where he got it from.

I have an uncle whose married into the family on the same side of the spectrum except he is African American. He believes if you're not black, then you're white and he loves to play the "whose race has had it the worse" comparison game. >
